Today has been a quintessential spring day - ideal for enjoying the sun warm your face and the wind weave through your hair. Just perfect. I even decided to express my ardent fondness for springtime with this plaid of handsome greens. I grew up and still live nestled in the Taconic Mountain range of eastern New York and let me tell you, when the mountainsides are illuminated with an endless array of green all seems right with the world.
The dandelion has always intrigued me. With its pretty golden floret and subsequent feathery parachute ball (perfect for wish making!) it seems unfair that it gets classified as a weed, but so things go. Apparently, the dandelion is rich in culinary uses. I've been eager to try dandelion wine ever since reading the novel of the same name by Ray Bradbury some years ago. Needless to say, I haven't had the opportunity yet. Have any of you had it before? How about sauteed dandelions or dandelion tempura? Might be good!

My friend wants to make dandelion wine this summer, actually. Her parents own a lot of land and we are going to gather and brew it. Or however you make wine. I have no idea. I also don't like wine, so no idea if I'll tipple it at all.

I like to blow dandelions! here children ask: "how much is your father bald?" and then blow it and it shows the future result haha a laugh!

i wrote a poem about dandelions once! it wasnt very good, but the concept was exactly what you wrote about ... why does no one like them!

I love the springy feel of your pictures. They remind me of what Norway looks like in the summer and make me miss it a little bit. I've actually been wanting to cook with dandelions for a long time but I've never gotten around to it (nor am I sure how to go about with it). Though I've never heard of dandelion tea actually... only of using dandelions in salads.
Dandelions make a great natural beauty product... when you're six years old and trying to make a yellow clown nose. Or warpaint. >:D
I love dandelions and let them grow rampantly (so long as my other plants are at a happy distance).

Dandelion wine!! Gosh I've never heard of such a thing before but it sounds so interesting! :D I definitely wanna try that one day... Ray Bradbury! His style of writing is so explosive and emotionally charged from what I remember when I read Farenheit 451. I'm so gonna check out the book Dandelion Wine when I get to the bookstore... was it a book you'd recommend?
